At the core of the pack is a 7075 aluminium inverted U-frame. Unlike the traditional dual stays found in most ultralight packs, this continuous U-shape links both sides of the pack, providing both vertical and horizontal stability.
This stability is further enhanced by the use of 7075 aluminium, a high-performance, “aircraft-grade” alloy known for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio. The result is a frame that’s not only lighter than many others on the market, but also stiffer and stronger.

ALL-DAY ACCESSIBILITY
We designed pockets and storage solutions that give users all-day accessibility to their gear, snacks, and hydration, without ever needing to open the main compartment.
This includes an oversized front pocket, hybridized with solid fabric and mesh to deliver the best of both worlds: added durability and protection, while still allowing you to see your gear from the outside. Side bottle pockets can fit two Smartwater bottles, sewn-in shoulder pockets easily hold 500 ml soft flasks, and large hip-belt pockets accommodate even the biggest smartphones on the market. A bottom pocket rounds it out, providing quick, on-the-go access to snacks and essentials throughout the day.
EXTERNAL FOAM CHANNELS
We’ve evolved the traditional foam panels found in most packs into two vertical external foam channels. The more comfortable spacer mesh and foam now sit directly against the user’s back, rather than the waterproof Ultra200X fabric (which isn’t ideal against the skin).
The result is improved ventilation, a cooler and less sweaty carry, and a more comfortable overall experience. All while saving weight by using less foam.
COMFORT
Comfort and load-carrying capability are further enhanced with wide, S-shaped shoulder straps, adjustable load lifters, a supportive lumbar pad, and a conical hip belt with a four-way adjustment system. This allows users to fine-tune the fit of the hip belt to match their individual hip shape and curve.

What size to get?
Take a look at our friends at Garage Grown Gear for guidance on choosing the right pack size. We’ve also found that there’s a lot of variation from person to person, some prefer to wear their pack higher, others lower. So a range of factors can influence what size works best for you.
If you’re between torso sizes, we recommend sizing up for greater adjustability and flexibility in volume.
How much can this pack carry?
While it’s somewhat subjective, the pack’s maximum carrying capacity is around 20 kg.
However, for a truly comfortable experience, we recommend keeping your total load to about 15 kg or less.
Can I use a hydration bladder with this pack?
Yes, the pack includes a hydration port, along with an internal hook to securely hold a hydration bladder.
Is this pack waterproof?
While the Ultra 200X fabric itself is waterproof, the seams are not seam-taped. This is due to the type of binding used, which creates a stronger, more durable seam but is too bulky to tape cleanly. As a result, in heavy rain, some water may make its way into the pack.
We recommend using a waterproof pack liner or dry bags to protect critical gear such as your sleeping quilt, bag, and clothing.
How much can I fit on top of the pack?
We’ve designed the length of the top Y-strap webbing to easily secure a 2–3 person ultralight tent, even after rolling the main roll-top down only three times.
Or… one party-sized bag of Doritos, our personal preference.

Used the Wallaroo Pro on a weeks hiking trip in Tassie. Brilliant design. Shoulder straps and hip belts are super comfortable. The two strips of padding on the back makes it more comfortable and breathable than similar packs too. The material is really robust and can handle bush bashing. Especially their use of fabric for pockets vs mesh that my previous pack has. Hip belt pockets are huge and can take loads of snacks. The flexible pockets on shoulder straps are really functional too. I used a 500ml soft flask in one and phone in the other for easy access. The soft flask worked really well for me. I like this better than having drink bottles used while walking on the side or a bladder system. (although this pack has opening for a bladder system). I even liked the stash pocket at the bottom of back for putting in wrappers etc after eating snacks (thought it would be a waste of time before using it). Really can't fault it. Not part of this review, but I own the Warratah quilt as well which is fantastic and way better than any sleeping back I've owned. If I had one request for the designers, it would be to add a little pocket inside the quilt for battery packs and water filters for storage when camping below freezing.

I just wanted to write a quick review so those who are considering the pack have some more information. I’ve just taken the pack away for the weekend and used it on the Main Range walk in Kosciuszko, where I carried approximately 13 kg. Overall, my experience has been good. I opted for the large size pack, as my back measurements fell between both medium and large, and the guidance when I was buying online was to size up, so I did. The pack feels good, the materials are good, and the shoulder straps are generally well-constructed and comfortable. The hip belt pockets are easy to use and well designed for actual phones. The 4-way waist strap design works great and makes getting a good fit much easier. I imagine it works well for ladies as well. Personally, I wish there was a bit more waist padding. However, in its current state, it’s still good and is what you would expect for a lightweight backpack. The pack is comfortable to put on and has the range of adjustment you would expect from this style of pack. I find the back comfort foam okay. It’s not a game changer, but I find it nice to have, as it keeps your back off the Ultra 200X fabric. The snack pocket on the underside of the bag works well, but I do wonder about the long-term durability of this approach. No issues thus far, just wanted to point it out. I believe it is similar to Atom packs, so might be worth seeing how those packs have been holding up if its an area of concern. The front pocket on the pack is massive and can hold heaps, I think I now prefer it to the mesh pockets found on many other packs. Things to note: I did notice a few loose threads ends that hadn’t been snipped off, but I don’t think that will impact the functionality of the backpack just a bit disappointing for the price and a first production run impression. Also, due to the nature of going ultralight, the adjustment straps used across the pack were quite difficult adjust at first, but as you use them more, they become easier to move around. Overall, I would recommend this backpack. The pack seems like a mix of the Durston Kakwa and Atom Pack, in a good way. It is also a bit cheaper when considering equivalent fabric.

This bag is wicked. Incredibly light and durable. Only downside is that it gets a bit warm and sweaty on your back due to lack of ventilation but thats to be expected from the material
I just used this pack on the Overland Track in for 8 days and it went well. Having said that I have never had a pack I didn't have to carry. :-) I also have a Durston Kakwa 55 and it is very similar. The waist harness and shoulder straps seem to be constructed a bit lighter but was OK. Max weight carried was almost 18 Kg. I wouldn't want to carry much more, but as we all know the weight will only get less as we eat some food. I wouldn’t have fitted any more gear anyway. The bottom pocket soaks up water as you would expect so it is good and bad. Handy for rubbish. I use a pack cover to try and keep the mud off everything, so that helps. The side and front pockets are a nice size. I fitted some shock cord on the front for extra quick access external storage. I used a large. The back length felt a just a tad long for me. I'm 175cm tall, back length falls in the large range of the pack. Maybe the medium would have been better. Bit hard to know until you get it and everyone is different. A third back length might be a good idea. But overall, it performed well, as you would expect from this type of pack. Not perfect for everyone. Neve Gear stated it has a 3-year warranty. Time will tell on its construction. Tassie bush can deconstruct a pack pretty quick. Thanks Neve Gear.

In regard to the bottom pocket, that is unfortunately one of the trade-offs that can come with stretch bottom pockets. We do have plans to improve the design, which should hopefully help reduce the water issue. In consistently wet conditions, I’d recommend using the bottom pocket for items that can handle getting wet, such as snacks or muesli bars. We’re also planning to introduce additional sizes in the future, so definitely keep an eye out for those. Thanks again for giving the pack a go. Hopefully it holds up well in the Tassie bush. I think it should perform nicely, although Tasmania is definitely a different animal!
This is the second Wallaroo that I’ve used (V2 and now V3). The improvements are significant. I’ve had this loaded with heavy climbing gear lumping into some out of the way areas. The bag is surprisingly comfortable under load. The wider shoulder straps sit nicely and spread load. I do like the magnetic closure of the main compartment and the sail cloth does seem robust. Although I’m still conscious of durability over time in Tasmania. The waist belt pouches are bigger than previous and take a phone and other things more easily than V2. Overall this pack is excellent value. Good performance and quality workmanship
